The Chords You Need to Know

Before we learn how to play the chords of “Im.Yours,” let’s take a quick look at which chords you’ll need to know to play it correctly: A major, D major, E minor, and F# minor.

Now that we know which chords we need to be familiar with let’s break down how exactly we can play them on our guitars.

A Major Chord

The first chord we’ll start with is the A major chord. This chord is usually one of the first ones a beginner guitarist will learn as it requires only two fingers and can be played relatively quickly compared to other more complex chords.

To begin playing an A major chord, place your index finger on the second fret of the fourth string (G string) and your middle finger on the second fret of the third string (B string).

From there, all you need to do is strum all six strings simultaneously, and voila—you’ve just played an A-major chord!

D Major Chord

Next up is D major, slightly more difficult than A major due to its three-finger shape and higher fret position (the third fret).

To begin playing this chord, place your index finger on the third fret of the fifth string (A string), your middle finger on the second fret of the fourth string (G string), and your ring finger on the third fret of the third string (B string).

Once again, all you must do from here is strum all six strings, and you’ve got a D major chord!

E Minor Chord

Our next chord is E minor, which requires four fingers and thus can be tricky for beginners but don’t worry—we’ll break it down step by step so that it becomes easier for you in no time!

To begin playing this chord, place your index finger on the first fret of both sixth strings (low E & high E strings) simultaneously and then add your middle finger onto both fourth strings (D & G strings) at once as well before finally adding your pinky onto both fifth strings (A & B strings) at once as well.

Once again, all you have left from here is strumming all six strings together, and now you’ve played an E minor chord!

F# Minor Chord

Last but not least, we have F# minor, which also requires four fingers like E minor but has a slightly different shape due to its higher fret position (the second instead of the first).

To begin playing this final chord, place your index finger on both fifth strings simultaneously at their respective second frets, followed by adding your middle finger onto both fourth strings simultaneously at their respective second frets before finally adding your pinky onto both sixth strings simultaneously at their respective first frets.

Once more, all that’s left from here is strumming all six strings together, and nowyou’veplayedanF #minorchord!
