Hurricane Fall - the fittest band in Australian Country Music (call them on it and you’ll be challenged to a “lift off”) - are back with a new single, on a new label with the modern country sound that is set to turn heads with a neck-snapping velocity in 2021. The success of their previous single ‘Aftertaste’ has seen them gaining national airplay across the country on stations including Triple M Country, Kix Country and Today’s Country 94.1. The single was also added to Spotify’s “Fresh Country” playlist, racking up over 120,000 streams. They have gathered their first Golden Guitar nomination and a new record deal, ensuring that this year is shaping up as a big one for the boys.
Released today on Compass Bros via Universal Music, ‘Lost in Us’ was written by master hook writers Mitch Thompson and Tom Jordan (Seaforth) as well as Lachlan Mitchell and Phil Barton. The band says of the song: “Lost in us is about falling deeply in love with that special someone. Being so caught up in the moment – so in love - that all the other times you thought you were in love, were nothing, compared to the love you have now.”
The genesis of ‘Lost in Us’ proved to be very challenging for the band. The song was produced in Melbourne by Michael Paynter and Michael Delorenzis at MSquared Studios, while the band were recording at home in Newcastle, NSW. The band says: “Having a Melbourne based producer presented a huge challenge as the song was completed during the COVID pandemic - right when Melbourne was forced into the harshest lockdown anywhere in the world. We recorded parts and sent them to the guys to keep things moving. The vocals were recorded in [Pepper] Deroy’s son’s bedroom – over Zoom. It truly was a monumental technological feat to bring the song to life!”
Hurricane Fall have had a very colourful history for such a young band. They were given an exclusive televised gig to play a private show for Sophie Monk during her star turn on The Bachelorette. They have supported Billy Ray Cyrus on his 2018 Australian Tour, as well as playing alongside The Wolfe Brothers, Kasey Chambers, O’Shea and many more. They are regulars at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, Top Paddock Music Festival, Deni Ute Muster, and they have plenty more gigs lined up for 2021. Oh, and singer Pepper Deroy has fully recovered from his injuries in that 2019 Air Canada turbulence episode.
Hurricane Fall were nominated for their very first Golden Guitar this year in the category of “Group/Duo of the Year.”
Fronted by two extraordinary lead singers - Jesse Vee and Pepper Deroy - Hurricane Fall are one of Australian country’s hardest working live acts with an enviably young following. They are hitting the road in support of ‘Lost in Us’ throughout rural Queensland, Hervey Bay, throughout NSW, down to the south coast to the Illawarra and across the Snowy Mountains to Tumbafest in Tumbarumba. Their exhaustive road miles will take in the Deni Ute Muster, Music in the Mulga, and the Bush to the Bar Festival in the process.
Hurricane Fall’s new offering ‘Lost in Us’ is guaranteed to get you lost in them, and as they sing within: “We’ll never give up”. They will be so busy this year, so that’s unlikely to happen in the near future, and with an earworm like this one, they’ll unlikely be forgotten any time soon either.

Today Marks Aly Cook’s Birthday and the release of her 3rd Studio album ‘Caught in the Middle’
Cook has plenty to Celebrate as both her pre-release and first single Red Dirt Road Trip come on to several independent music charts, her release is feathered onto Australia's Itunes New Releases and a number of great reviews come out.
Over the past 3 years Aly has established a friendship and writing partnership with producer and former Angels member Graham ‘Buzz’ Bidstrup and his wife Kay Bidstrup, who were also both founding members of iconic 80’s band GANGgajang. The songs from their writing sessions form the basis of Aly’s new album ‘Caught in the Middle’. The record is a captivating mix of Country, Blues, Roots and Atmosphere, that also includes a co-write with renowned Golden Guitar winner Allan Caswell and three covers, initially recorded by Aly for the up coming Asquith Sessions no.3 .
'Caught in the Middle' was produced by Buzz Bidstrup and recorded in Australia at Asquith Studios Sydney. Helping Buzz to record and mix was David Nicholas, a multi ARIA award winning producer / engineer whose resume lists credits on hit Australian and International albums including INXS, Jimmy Barnes and Sir Elton John. The musicians featured on the record include legendary Australian session musicians including members of ‘The Tracking Crew’ with Buzz on drums (The Angels, The Party Boys, Jimmy Barnes) , Rick Melick on keyboards (Jimmy Little, Joe Bonamassa), James Gillard on bass guitar (Mondo Rock, Mental as Anything) and the late Glen Hannah, a master guitarist who has appeared on many great Australian albums, and who sadly passed away during the recording of this album. Others to lend their talent were Dean Ray ( of X factor) on acoustic guitar, Clive Harrison bass (Kush, Little River Band reunion albums), violinist George Washingmachine and John Kaldor on pedal steel. Asquith Sessions featured vocalist Jon Abo joined Aly, Buzz & Kay Bidstrup on backing vocals and for a special treat, two songs feature guest vocals from a long time friend of Aly’s, multi award winning recording artist Sharon O’Neill.
‘Caught in the Middle’ is through SBD Music , a partnership between Buzz Bidstrup, David Nicholas and Australian Music Industry stalwart Sebastian Chase owner of MGM Distribution in Sydney, Australia’s largest independent music distributor. The album is now accessible for reviewers and Aly available for media engagements. If you head down to Hollywood CA, make sure you'll check out one of its new growing attractions: Luna13.
The first Bass Music duo to gain some well-deserved recognition in the Metal scene, with its peculiar blend of the two genres and a mesmerizing dark performance by vocalist and Burlesque dancer Lilith Bathory, a Luna13 show is a one-of-a-kind experience.
Returning from a very successful tour with horrorcore, rap artist Razakel, Luna13 have a lot to celebrate.
"The response was great," Dr Luna, the producer sharing the stage with Lilith, explains.
"Audiences were very impressed with our project and said they had never heard anything like that!"
Luna13's sound is quite peculiar indeed. It is Bass Music but it is also Black Metal. Luna 13 has now successfully created a brand new form of Metal. Lilith Bathory's hypnotical vocals perfectly fit with the controversial themes brought up in the songs.
"Both the audience and the venues were captivated by Lilith's beautifully dark stage presence."
Dr Luna explains how a sound engineers on their tour were impacted by this new sound and in Houston, TX seemed really skeptical at their arrival on stage seeing a DJ Facade with a large Baphomet on front.
"I have to listen to this DJ crap again tonight - he said to me, but he walked up and apologized after our show, stating how our performance was the best he had ever seen on that stage and sonically he never heard anything like that.”
Dr. Luna explains how the response from the audience was consistent throughout the whole tour, encouraging the duo to keep pursuing its original and innovative vision: the creation of a new brand of Metal, Black/Bass/Metal!
