Classical

General Music Discussions

Nah I cant get into this genre at all.
I think it goes back to having it rammed down my throat by my parents when i was younger.
All I ever heard was Elgar and Beethoven 24/7 in my house.

Songwriting

Lyrics & Songwriting

Kudos goes out to song writers, I did give it a shot once but boy its hard.
I had the lyrics written down bit trying to add loops, samples, and everything else to it was a nightmare, i think I got about 10 bars in and gave up.
This was a long time ago so perhaps I will try again.

Any tips people ?

I Have Met / I Have Seen

Tours, Gigs & Live Appearances

I have met UB40, well I more than met them.

In the early 90's I was in a hotel in Cardiff (UK) at an engagement party for a friend and UB40 were playing a concert nearby, and were staying in the same hotel the party was being held at.
After their gig they came back to the hotel and asked if they could crash the party and of coarse they were told yes.
What a bunch of real nice people they are. They danced and drank with all for hours and were just like normal people having a good time.. and they defo know how to party.

Thats my claim to fame

Drums

Instruments & Equipment

I have just posted on the Piano section about the affects of the computer on instruments and especially the drum.
Do you all think that in 10 years time or even sooner than that, that drummers will still be around ?
I fear with all the electronic ways now to create and make songs and everything that goes with it that the instrument and the drum in particular is going to fade out

Your Thoughts

Piano

Instruments & Equipment

The piano can indeed be a great instrument in the correct hands, I would love to be able to play the drums, but I fear this is a dying instrument as many are due to the complex and intuitive software now available for laying down beats etc via the click of a button.

What is your favourite all time Queen top 3 ?

Mine is
#1 Bohemian Rhapsody
#2 These are the days
#3 Who wants to live for ever

Queen are pure genius in my opinion and are the reason music is where it is today.

A quote :
The primary responsibilities of the conductor are to unify performers, set the tempo, execute clear preparations and beats, listen critically and shape the sound of the ensemble, and to control the interpretation and pacing of the music. ... Typically, orchestral conductors use a baton more often than choral conductors.

I don't see much of that going on in that video Admin added, it is funny to watch for sure.

haha ToP I Remember that programme.
Back to POP though, one of the most underrated singers I believe is "Fergie" she is so versatile from the Black eyed Peas to singing songs like "Big Girls Don't Cry" and with all her Ft in between like "Getting Over You".
Her voice seems to have no bounds at all.

Anyone agree or disagree ?
