The last thing you want when you write something is to encounter writer's block. This appears when you just can’t find a way to move the story or content onward. And while it seems superficial for some people, the reality is that a writer's block can end up affecting your productivity. But there are some ways around it and here you have some of the best.
Create a writing schedule
This works for a lot of writers because it allows you to focus more during certain times during the day. A writer's block can end up affecting your evenings and lifestyle, so sticking to a schedule might help eliminate that. Don’t be hard on yourself, these things appear and you do need to find a way to handle them correctly.
Putting some pressure on you will help too. That’s why it makes sense to add some deadlines in there as that will work quite nicely if you do it right. With that in mind, avoid deadlines that add way too much pressure, simplicity is key and once you handle the process correctly it will work amazingly well without issues.
Work on multiple projects at once
While this might be counterproductive, it does allow you to get your mind away from the writer's block. And it might even give you some ideas on how to handle this process in a way that works and which is very clever and professional. You can also try out various writing exercises. Again, not all of them will work, so trying out numerous ideas will help pay off a lot.
Change the writing space
You can go to a café with your laptop and start writing there. Or you can change your writing space to make it feel more comfortable. The idea is to spruce things up and make some changes, as that’s the type of thing that will really make the experience more exciting in the first place.
Write early in the morning
It’s said that for most people the best time to write is as soon as they wake up. That’s when they are the most productive, and it really makes sense to do it. Obviously there are challenges along the way, but knowing how and when to write will be a great idea here. Try out numerous schedules to see the one that will help overcome the writer's block.
Also, distractions can lead to the writer's block you have right now. removing distractions is the best thing you can do and it might actually help a lot. It’s not the simplest thing to do, but it can totally o wonders if you tackle it the right way. Just take your time and once you do that you will be fine.
Dealing with your writer's block is not that challenging. Yes, it can be tricky to not have any inspiration. But as you can see, you just need to be creative and come up with stuff and ideas that you can enjoy. Results will be great and you have to adapt and adjust everything to suit your needs. It’s certainly going to pay off big time as long as you try out these ideas, so check them out!

Today Marks Aly Cook’s Birthday and the release of her 3rd Studio album ‘Caught in the Middle’
Cook has plenty to Celebrate as both her pre-release and first single Red Dirt Road Trip come on to several independent music charts, her release is feathered onto Australia's Itunes New Releases and a number of great reviews come out.
Over the past 3 years Aly has established a friendship and writing partnership with producer and former Angels member Graham ‘Buzz’ Bidstrup and his wife Kay Bidstrup, who were also both founding members of iconic 80’s band GANGgajang. The songs from their writing sessions form the basis of Aly’s new album ‘Caught in the Middle’. The record is a captivating mix of Country, Blues, Roots and Atmosphere, that also includes a co-write with renowned Golden Guitar winner Allan Caswell and three covers, initially recorded by Aly for the up coming Asquith Sessions no.3 .
'Caught in the Middle' was produced by Buzz Bidstrup and recorded in Australia at Asquith Studios Sydney. Helping Buzz to record and mix was David Nicholas, a multi ARIA award winning producer / engineer whose resume lists credits on hit Australian and International albums including INXS, Jimmy Barnes and Sir Elton John. The musicians featured on the record include legendary Australian session musicians including members of ‘The Tracking Crew’ with Buzz on drums (The Angels, The Party Boys, Jimmy Barnes) , Rick Melick on keyboards (Jimmy Little, Joe Bonamassa), James Gillard on bass guitar (Mondo Rock, Mental as Anything) and the late Glen Hannah, a master guitarist who has appeared on many great Australian albums, and who sadly passed away during the recording of this album. Others to lend their talent were Dean Ray ( of X factor) on acoustic guitar, Clive Harrison bass (Kush, Little River Band reunion albums), violinist George Washingmachine and John Kaldor on pedal steel. Asquith Sessions featured vocalist Jon Abo joined Aly, Buzz & Kay Bidstrup on backing vocals and for a special treat, two songs feature guest vocals from a long time friend of Aly’s, multi award winning recording artist Sharon O’Neill.
‘Caught in the Middle’ is through SBD Music , a partnership between Buzz Bidstrup, David Nicholas and Australian Music Industry stalwart Sebastian Chase owner of MGM Distribution in Sydney, Australia’s largest independent music distributor. The album is now accessible for reviewers and Aly available for media engagements. Cook launches the album at Mildura Country Music Festival 27th Sept - 6th Oct, Canterbury Country Spring Fling at Canterbury Hurlstone RSL Sydney on 10th of Oct & Tasmanian Independent Country Music Awards 19th Oct. Aly will return to NZ and be available to NZ Media in Auckland 24th and 25th of October before heading off on a short tour with NZ Cricket Legend/Singer Songwriter John Wright & The Souwesters which includes appearances at the Tauranga Arts Festival on Oct 30th, Auckland North Shore Rugby Club Benefit Concert Oct 31st and a charity event for North Canterbury Wellness Trust on Nov 1 at Rangiora Town Hall.

Guitar performance, create two different guitar parts: a rhythm guitar strings (using a lower pitch) and a main guitar phrase (using most high pitch). Now, don't worry about making them too complicated. Once you've created two parts, you can combine the two parts together and play them "in time", and there's no sloppy noise/hesitation in switching from one part to the next. For this exercise, it is useful to use the metronome exercise. Also, record your performance so that you can hear any mistakes you make. This makes it easier to find yourself playing the cheap electric guitars in time.

If you are new to the trumpet, or if you have a child that is just starting out, you are sure to come across the question of how to find the best trumpet for students. Surprisingly, the answer doesn’t have to be that difficult. Aside from borrowing one from the school, or renting one from the local music store, there are many great options available to purchase a student trumpet .
First off, you need to know what you are looking for. Obviously, you will want to be wary of most trumpets that are made in China. Usually, they are made out of cheap materials and with shoddy workmanship, and will usually fall apart after just a year or two of normal use. There are some exceptions to this, however, with Carol Trumpets being one of the better quality products coming out of China.
If you absolutely have to have a brand new horn, be prepared to spend several hundred bucks. Yamaha and Jupiter Trumpets have come a long way in the last several years, and make some very durable student model horns. A Getzen Trumpet is known to have some of the best valves available on any horn, while Bach and Kanstul Trumpets both have a superior reputation for making quality trumpets for every level of player.
There are many different places to find great deals on used trumpets as well. You can check your local music store, the local paper, and classified ads. You can also broaden your search online to include trumpet forums, music stores all over the country, and also shopping sites like eBay. A used horn is a great idea for a beginner, as most students that pick up the trumphet don’t continue to play for more than a year or two.
Finding a deal on a used horn is a great idea, as it normally allows you to buy a better trumpet for the same amount of money. One of the best options available for the beginning musician would be to find a used Olds Ambassador Trumpet…the older the better. The Olds Ambassador will play as well as most professional model trumpets, are known for silky smooth valves, and are built like a tank so they will withstand the abuses of even the youngest player.
There are many great options available to purchase a student trumpet. You can even borrow one from the school, or rent one from your local music store. One of the most common questions that you come across if you are new to the trumpet, or if you have a child that is just starting out, is how to find the best trumpet for students. We hope that we have unlocked that mystery today.

If you head down to Hollywood CA, make sure you'll check out one of its new growing attractions: Luna13.
The first Bass Music duo to gain some well-deserved recognition in the Metal scene, with its peculiar blend of the two genres and a mesmerizing dark performance by vocalist and Burlesque dancer Lilith Bathory, a Luna13 show is a one-of-a-kind experience.
Returning from a very successful tour with horrorcore, rap artist Razakel, Luna13 have a lot to celebrate.
"The response was great," Dr Luna, the producer sharing the stage with Lilith, explains.
"Audiences were very impressed with our project and said they had never heard anything like that!"
Luna13's sound is quite peculiar indeed. It is Bass Music but it is also Black Metal. Luna 13 has now successfully created a brand new form of Metal. Lilith Bathory's hypnotical vocals perfectly fit with the controversial themes brought up in the songs.
"Both the audience and the venues were captivated by Lilith's beautifully dark stage presence."
Dr Luna explains how a sound engineers on their tour were impacted by this new sound and in Houston, TX seemed really skeptical at their arrival on stage seeing a DJ Facade with a large Baphomet on front.
"I have to listen to this DJ crap again tonight - he said to me, but he walked up and apologized after our show, stating how our performance was the best he had ever seen on that stage and sonically he never heard anything like that.”
Dr. Luna explains how the response from the audience was consistent throughout the whole tour, encouraging the duo to keep pursuing its original and innovative vision: the creation of a new brand of Metal, Black/Bass/Metal!

Listening to a song is exciting and mesmerizing, but actually writing one is a bit trickier than you might imagine. It all comes down to knowing what to expect and to actively work hard to bring in your vision to life. That being said, here you have some tips that will make it easy to write a song without any problem.
How can you start a song?
The first thing you want to do is to figure out what instruments you play with. A drum machine, MIDI controller and Synth VST, as well as a guitar are some good instruments to start with. But you can use whatever you want. Some songwriting software will also help make the process easier.
Once you have those ready, you need to think about the song topic. Ideally it needs to be something from your life, something that you and other people can related with. You don’t want things to be too simple or too complex here, but adapting and adjusting a little bit can be very well worth the effort.
Where can you get song ideas?
Listening to other music does help a lot. You can also get inspired by a hook, a chorus, a bass line, lyric stanza and so on. You should look for inspiration in your day to day life, as that also helps lots of writers especially when they lack ideas.
Create a draft
You can’t have a complete song right away. That’s why at first you create a draft and then you go from there. It’s designed to make the experience more interesting and it will have the potential to work for you if you do it right. Ideally you want to create a song that’s appealing, but also inquisitive. Create a version and then you will have something to work with.
Select the song structure
You can go with any song structure you want. It can be verse, chorus, verse, chorus. It can also be verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus, bridge. The idea is that you are in control here and you can even include an outro and other stuff like that if you want. Creativity is key when you write a song, so make it interesting and unique, then it will be just fine.
Add more melody to it
Some songs can be heavy on lyrics, others will just have a few lyrics and lots of melody. You just have to figure out what works for you and then you can adapt and adjust everything yourself.
Creating music is all about being creative and bringing in your own input into all of this. Sometimes creating music can require a lot of time, but with the right ideas and commitment you will be fine. Take your time and remember that the outcome can be second to none. It will be an extraordinary opportunity and you have to keep it in mind. It’s well-worth the effort to try out new things, but you can use current pieces as inspiration too if you want!

Reading sheet music as a beginner is never easy, especially if you find it challenging before actually starting. But it can be done and the most important thing is that there are lots of options to consider and keep in mind when it comes to reading music too.
The Grand Staff
The Grand Staff will have clefs, different signs within spaces and lines. The one at the top is named the treble clef and the one at the bottom is the bass clef. You will find notes in every line and space for the clefs.
Treble clef and notes for the treble clef
Usually the treble clef will have 5 lines and 4 spaces. In each one of them you will find a note. For the spaces, you have F, A, C and E. For the notes, you have E, G, B, D and F. If the notes on the spaces are going from the bottom to the top, the same thing will be with notes on the lines, as those go from the bottom to the top as well.
The bass clef
The bass clef has a similar outline. For the notes on the 4 spaces you have A, C, E and G, and for the 5 lines you have G, B, D, F and A. You will have to use the notes from the bottom to the top, same thing needs to be done with the lines.
Having all the notes on line and spaces for the treble and bass clef
Once you add all these things together, reading it will be a tad harder. But there are ways to make the process easier, all you need is to adapt to the process and just go from there for the most part. One of the most important aspects here is that you need to practice. It will take a little bit to learn and adapt to all of this, but it will be worth the effort.
Ledger lines are the lines for notes that are outside the normal grand staff range. They are found in the bass and treble clefs. But you won’t always see them on the sheet music unless you have to play things outside the grand staff. The middle C is a great example of ledger line content.
As the name suggests, this is right at the middle of the treble and bass clef. Above you will have D, and then you have E. below the Middle C you will have B and then A. The thing to keep in mind here is that you will have lots of notes on the ledger lines mostly because they help you with your study and preparation. Every tiny detail matters when it comes to this, so it all comes down to patience and commitment.
Learning how to read music is not that hard as long as you commit to the process and focus on the best results. It will totally be worth it, so just give it a shot and you will be just fine! Practice makes perfect too, so the more you practice, the better it will be!

Protecting your music is just as important as making it. You see, without copyright you will not be able to retain the rights to your song. So people will be able to use it or even say that it’s theirs. Which is why it’s a very good idea to copyright your music as soon as you make it.
Music law basics
You can choose to copyright music, lyrics or both of them. Of course, your song needs to be original. One thing to keep in mind is that you can’t copyright a chord progression or a song title. When you copyright songs you can distribute the song anywhere you want, prepare some derivative works, perform the song or authorize others to play it if you want.
What is the copyright process for songs?
The first thing you want to do is to have a tangible version of the song. You can’t copyright a song idea. The song needs to be recorded in some way, be it taped or digitally. You can’t copyright a song if you’re just humming for example.
Create an account at the US Copyright Office website. Registering electronically is faster, although you do need to send a copy of your work. Please note that in Australia copyright is free and automatic meaning you do not need to apply for or do anything to have copyright of your work.
File the copyright registration application. It’s important to study the instructions before filing it. In case you need to file via mail, you must use the form PA for that.
Paying the registration fee is mandatory if you want to copyright your music. That being said, there are multiple options based on how you choose to register, how fast you want to register and so on. Every minor detail is important when you register your music.
Now you have to send a copy of your song. Sending the song as an audio recording is a very good idea, see if you can upload it digitally or send it via email. Also, you might have to mail copies of your song in a paper format if you want to copyright lyrics.
Once you did all of the above, all you have to do is wait. It will take a few months to process the copyright, so it does require a bit of time for you to gain the music copyright. That’s why you need to do it early in the process, because you can’t launch your music without having it copyrighted first.
The music copyright process might seem confusing at first, but it’s actually very simple once you get the hang of it. This offers some amazing benefits and the clear one is that you get to work closely with amazing professionals. It’s certainly something that’s crucial for your music career, so try to copyright all your music. Whether you choose to copyright solely your lyrics or the entire musical piece, that’s up to you. But the ideal thing is to copyright your entire work, just to be safe. It will also give you more control over where the music is played, who plays it and when!

Decades ago distributing music was quite the chore and it always brought in front some major challenges. But the reality is that music distribution is a lot faster and easier nowadays. You do need to keep in mind a few key aspects, and here are some of the things to consider!
Create the right artwork and hire a digital mastering professional
When you want to distribute your music, it’s important to have the right artwork for it. That’s especially true for digital distribution, but also regular distribution channels as well. Also, as we mentioned above, it’s a good idea to hire a digital mastering expert. This way you will make sure that your music sounds the best it can be and that it’s ready for your audience.
Get an UPC
Selling music in any online store requires you to have an UPC. The CD duplication companies offer you an UPC for a small fee, and you can use that for both CD and digital distribution. Make sure that you work with a company which provides this kind of service.
Pick the right distributor
Usually you will not be able to work directly with Apple or Spotify to promote your music digitally. So if you want to distribute your music there, you will have to work with a digital distributing partner. Make sure that you get to retain your rights to the entire music piece. Also, see what fees you have to pay, as some digital distributors are quite expensive.
Should you go traditional or digital?
That’s up to you, the type of music that you create and what audience you have in mind. For example, classical music fans are older and they are the ones that will buy a CD or traditional media products like that. On the other hand, if you cater to the younger crowd, they are all about streaming and they want music to be available digitally. This clearly works and it does have the potential to help quite a bit.
You can choose to go with both options and it will be just fine too. That’s because more often than not some customers will favor one type of media over the other. You must offer as many options as possible so your customers will be happy. Granted, it will take a bit more work to find a good digital and traditional distribution partner, but it will be worth it.
Distributing your music is one of the most demanding tasks for a musician. But that doesn’t necessarily mean you can do it alone. Either you hire a distributor to handle the entire process, or you will need some guidance if you try to complete this process on your own. You also have to choose between digital and non-digital exposure, depending on your music. Rest assured that it will be a great opportunity for your music business to go with both traditional and digital content, as that means you will have a larger audience!
