Do you want to know How to Move Upright Piano?

Playing the piano is a great way to relax, unwind, and enjoy quality time with yourself or your family. But what do you do when it’s time to move?

Moving a piano can be tricky and intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. With the right preparation and planning, moving an upright piano can be a breeze!

Here are our best tips and techniques for safely moving an upright piano.

How to Move Upright Piano

Preparing Your Piano for Moving

The key to any successful move is in preparation. Before you begin loading and unloading your piano, ensure you have all the necessary supplies on hand.

At a minimum, you will need two or more people to help lift the piano, as well as blankets, straps, dollies, ramps (if stairs are involved), furniture sliders (for hardwood floors), and packing tape.

Depending on how far away you are moving the piano from its current location, you may also consider hiring a professional mover specializing in pianos.

Loading & Unloading Your Piano

Once all your supplies are gathered, and you have at least two people ready to help lift the piano safely onto the dolly (or ramp if stairs are involved), wrap the entire instrument in blankets or other cushioning material before attempting to move it.

This will ensure that no damage will occur during transit. Once securely loaded onto the dolly or ramp using straps or other fastening materials, use furniture sliders on hardwood flooring if needed. If using a ramp, ensure its angle is not too steep, so it remains level while moving up/downstairs.

When unloading at your new location into its final resting place, make sure that all surfaces have been properly cushioned with blankets or padding before setting down onto them; this will prevent any scratches or other damage from occurring during transportation.

Maintenance & Care After Moving Your Piano

After your move is completed successfully and your beloved instrument is where you want it to be in your home or studio space again – remember regular maintenance! Every 3-4 months, we recommend tuning your instrument—especially after any major moves—to keep it sounding great for years to come!

Additionally, dusting off the keys regularly and checking for any mechanical parts needing repair can save time and money if caught early enough!
